Illinet to I-Share
I just noticed today that they've begun the re-branding of Illinet as they change the name to I-Share. They haven't updated the tutorials and the help link seems to be broken, so they still have a bit of work to do.
If you've got weblinks for Illinet, remember to update!
One more thing...did you notice the logo is like that optical illusion with the faces & vases? Did you see 4 arrows, or did you see a white "I" on a purple & gray background?

Assistant Librarian You scored 62% on knowledge of librarianship. |
You seem to be a librarian, but you are not as knowledgeable as your more devoted colleagues in some of the library lore, trivia, technical details and social knowledge that can give depth and perspective to ones professional identity; but your practical knowledge of your job may be quite excellent. |

Library 1995
With this big 70th anniversary celebration we've got going on all year long, I decided to dig out the photos from the documentary project I did for my Photo I class at Columbia College in the spring of 1995. It's amazing how much has changed in the 11 years. Link to the set.
Of course, some of the staff in the pictures have moved on to other jobs, but we've made a lot of other changes too. The card catalog was still around in 1995. The Reference Dept. was on the opposite side of the building. No computers for public use. The carpet was gold (be glad these are B&W photos!) The popular style of eyewear was definitely much larger than what's in fashion now!
I still lived in Lansing back then, and I used to ride my bike to work. The custodian was concerned that I'd be ready to leave at night and find my tires flat, so he had me park my bike in the staff lounge.
It's a green Schwinn Collegiate from the early 1970s. (a garage sale bargain for $20, but not as pretty as Aaron's) Isn't that a strange coincidence? I should start a frappr map of bloggers with schwinns.

Lansing Public Library Soars at 70!
My library is celebrating its 70th anniversary.
We came up with the idea to have 70 events ("flights") throughout the year, and promote them as a group. All 70 of the event flyers will be posted as a group near the lower level entrance.
We do have more than 70 individual events during the year, so we're highlighting, for example, a specific storytime, book discussion, in addition to special programming January-December!
The anniversary also ties in with the Village of Lansing's celebration of the anniversary of the Historic Ford Hangar at the Lansing Airport. Remember the Cows on Parade in Chicago? Well, this summer, Lansing will have model tri-motor planes outside the businesses!
Smaller tabletop models will also be displayed in the library.
The 2006 summer reading program will tie-in with the flight theme, and we've extended it year-long with Lansing Public Library Soars at 70!
Attached is a pdf of the flyer for flight #1 ... this weekend's Friends of the Library Book Sale. It's on the 7th, and they're having a 70 cent sale!
flight-poster1.pdf
Each of the flyers in our series of 70 flights this year will have the same header & footer.
