Engaged Patrons -- Thumbs Up

By now I'm sure you've heard of engagedpatrons.org

begin user feedback:

I went live using the Library Events on our library site about a week ago.

I began entering events earlier in May, then made every effort possible to push it to the limit. (Probably much to Glenn's frustration--but he worked out the bugs.)

Our Adult Services, Teen & Youth Depts all liked the fact that events are automatically deleted the day after the event. If you had visited our program page before, I would generally enter a whole month's worth of events, then delete the old ones at month end. Visit the site mid month, and you'd be scrolling a while.

I like the limit by audience feature. Before... we had separate event pages for adult, teen & youth. I often wondered if we were missing potential audience members.

I also really like the e-mail feature. See an interesting program, but want to see if a friend wants to come with you?... click email and they get all the important info!

The RSS feed is a bonus, I've contacted both the "official" village website and the unofficial one, we'll see if they opt to syndicate the program feed.

Staff isn't as excited about online registration, but Adult Services wants to experiment with it, but that's great because Glenn built it so you can offer registration on an event-by-event basis.

To me, it seems strange to offer access to everything over the website, then make people wait until we're open to register for a program!

So, if anybody is looking to see a library website with it in action, check it out!

end: user feedback

Highly recommend.

Great job Glenn!

Lansing Celebrity READ posters

Our celebrity READ poster series is pretty much complete, more were added to the set today.

Despite the camera shy, we got great pics!
The set includes:
Library Trustees (Carrie's pop-up book is so different!)
Librarian
Fire Chief
Police Chief
Mayor
Chamber of Commerce Director
Youth Center Director
Superintendent, District 158
Superintendent, District 171
Station Manager, LNN Channel 4 (local cable)
President of Friends of the Library
Manager of Lansing Airport

The cloud background is to complement the Tri-Motor project in town and ties in with our year long theme, Lansing Library Soars at 70!

Strangely, more than one of our celebrities joked about trading cards when they came for their photo shoot.

Which one is your favorite?
