CODI - Overview of Request Module for Horizon 8.0

Holly Harvey, SirsiDynix

Can build exceptions to not allow requests based on collection code or item status.

It is no longer the enter key to acknowledge a request. Is now the Y key.

Ability to charge when a request is created, filled, or expired.

8.0 has loan charging and renewal charging too.

Request ratio function will allow you to adjust the loan period based on requests.

Requests can be grouped, then prioritized.

Do you want to read a series in order? Group the holds, and the hold for book #2 does not trigger until you’ve had book #1
the default for this is: request #2 activates when the patron returns book #1
It would be nice to be able to customize this per patron preference.

Do you need 3 sources for a school project? Place requests on 10 books, group them, and set the group to automatically cancel once 3 items from the group have been filled. System automatically cancels the remaining requests.

Max # of requests per patron counts the suspended requests too. If a lot of patrons begin to take advantage of this, we may need to rethink our max # of requests.

[audience question] Can we save a list of patrons for future use? (for example a book club group) No, but they'll look at it.
